Matt Schildgen

East Bay

Matt Schildgen began playing piano at the age of four. His excitement for music grew while participating in the Berkeley High School Jazz program. Continuing his studies at the famed conservatory at Oberlin College, he studied jazz piano performance, music theory, and music history.

Since returning to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2001, Matt has been a music educator of both youth and adults. He plays professionally in a variety of ensembles spanning many genres. His passion for performance adds to the genuine enthusiasm for music he generates among his students.

Outside of music, Matt loves raising his son, making terrariums, and working in the garden.
