Aaron
East Bay
Aaron began studying the snare drum at thirteen years old. Tapping on desks, banging on pots and pans began much earlier, however. He enjoyed playing percussion in the school band and hosting jam sessions in his garage with local musicians and friends. Different styles of music, from metal to jazz, could be heard all day.
At fifteen years old Aaron fell in love with jazz. He felt an immediate connection and started gigging and playing professionally when he was sixteen. He has always been interested in expanding his musicality, exploring different genres, styles, and grooves from around the world. He fell in love with Cuban percussion after having the opportunity to study in Cuba.
Aaron studied drums, piano and composition at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, California where he earned a bachelor’s degree in jazz studies. He currently works in the San Francisco Bay Area and is accepting students of all ages and levels.
