Cynthia

East Bay

Cynthia performs across the United States as a Baroque violinist and violist. At home in the Bay Area, she regularly appears with prominent chamber ensembles that feature music of the Medieval, Renaissance, and early Baroque periods. Her piano trio has been named by Early Music America as an “Emerging Ensemble.”

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Cynthia began learning piano with her mom at age three and started taking viola lessons at age ten. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a doctorate in Historical Performance Practice and also holds modern viola degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is especially nerdy about music written between the fourteenth and eighteenth centuries but loves all types of music.

Cynthia is a recent transplant to Berkeley and lives in a tiny cottage where she enjoys cooking and baking.

Willis had a great first lesson. He says Patrick is a 9 out of 10 in comparison to his old teacher… I like Patrick’s approach also. You seem to have a great instructor and person representing your business. Willis is excited for his next one!
