Recognized as a “Rising Star” in the tenor saxophone category of the 2017 DownBeat magazine critics poll, Dayna is one of the finest musicians on the international jazz scene. Dayna has released eight recordings as a leader on the CTA, Criss Cross, Sunnyside, and Vegamusic record labels. Reviews of his work from JazzTimes, JazzScene, and DownBeat magazines all comment on the pure, persistent, soulful nature of Dayna’s music.
Dayna was born in Brooklyn and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He attended Berkeley High School and went on to study at the Berklee College of Music via a full scholarship. Now based in New York, Dayna performs as a saxophonist and bassist. Many of the compositions he plays and records are his own. His arrangements have also been featured with symphony orchestras in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Boston.
Dayna’s humble magnetism draws absolutely everyone in and reminds us all that life is to be cherished and celebrated. Lessons with this jazz master will enrich your musical knowledge in innumerable ways.
