Jake has been performing and teaching throughout the San Francisco Bay Area since he was fourteen years old. He studied at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, California. His specialties include jazz and salsa, however he was raised on the classical repertoire with a foundation in music theory and harmony. Jake can also incorporate music composition into a student’s lessons if this is an interest the student wishes to pursue.

Jake performs regularly with his own trio and also with a salsa band. In addition, he enjoys performing soul, reggae and cumbia.

In his spare time Jake enjoys hiking and cooking. He especially enjoys reading material related to language and cognition, or more general philosophical topics.
