James

East Bay

James received his bachelor’s degree in music from UC Berkeley with an emphasis on performance and composition. James has written dozens of piano works, chamber pieces, and orchestral music which have been played in multiple countries. He has performed from the classical repertoire across Europe in settings varying from concert halls in England to Parisian cafes. Though he harbors a great love of performance and composing, his biggest passion is teaching. He has worked with children of all ages since 2005.

Having worked as a preschool teacher and camp counselor in Los Angeles, James was able to adapt skills working with youth to teaching young music students. He has been a private piano and music theory instructor since 2008.

Despite staying very busy with his students and continuous performance schedule James works hard to enjoy his life outside of music. He spends his free time hiking, cooking, drawing, playing basketball and reading.

Willis had a great first lesson. He says Patrick is a 9 out of 10 in comparison to his old teacher… I like Patrick’s approach also. You seem to have a great instructor and person representing your business. Willis is excited for his next one!
