Julian was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a young person, he immersed himself in the creative arts. He started playing the guitar at age ten. As a teenager, he studied with multiple guitarists and formed two rock bands. One of his bands won first place at the 2005 Battle of the Bands at Slim's in San Francisco.

After graduating high school Julian attended Cabrillo College's music program in Santa Cruz where he developed a love for jazz and classical music. In 2012 he moved to the East Bay to attend the California Jazz Conservatory. He earned his bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies and Performance there in 2017. He teaches full time and performs frequently with his jazz trio and two rock groups around the Bay Area.

In his spare time, Julian loves to surf up and down the California coast. He also loves rock climbing and is an avid painter.
